The 10 “Empties” I Adore and Will Always Repurchase

The 10 “Empties” I Adore and Will Always Repurchase

Welcome back y’all! So you’re probably wondering what the heck empties are, right? Empties is a term to describe makeup products that you’ve used until they were completely empty and have since repurchased. I don’t wear full face makeup everyday, but there are plenty of makeup products I have bought over and over again that I can’t wait to share with you all.

Disclosure: This post contains referral links which means that if you purchase from one of my links, I will receive a small percentage of the sale.

L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Original Curved Brush Mascara in Black

This will forever be my favorite mascara. Just one coat of this and your lashes begin to look like fake ones. I personally like the curved brush in this mascara, but this brand has the standard mascara wands as well.

NYX High Definition Eyeshadow Base

When I started learning how to do eyeshadow, I experimented with a lot of different primers, but I fell in love with NYX’s. After two taps of this on my lids, I was good to go the ENTIRE day or night. This particular primer also makes your eyeshadow pop much more than just simply setting on your lid.

I loved this primer so much, I invested in the waterproof version for hotter months!

Get both the waterproof primer and the HD base for $7.00 on NYX’s website!

NYX Control Freak Eyebrow Gel

Y’all…you will never find a better eyebrow gel than this one. I’ve fallen asleep with some makeup on way too many times to count and my eyebrows would never budge when I was wearing this!

All you have to do is brush this across your brows, let it dry for a moment and you’re done.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade – Dark Brown

I’m sure everybody’s heard things about Anastasia’s Dipbrow Pomade. It was one of the many hyped up beauty products last year and it definitely lives up to the hype. Once this is on your eyebrows, it will not move, plus a little goes a long way!

I’ve actually never gone through an entire container of this, as there’s so much, but I unfortunately lost my first container so I had to buy a new one. Believe me, I definitely keep track of the one I have now!

Grab this pomade from Ulta for $18.00!

Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil – in Black Brown

This pencil still brings back memories whenever I use it, haha. This was the very first product I used to fill in my eyebrows just about four years ago. I still use it to this day, though not as often as my Dipbrow.

I usually reserve my pencil for extending my arch, making the brow lines crisper, or when I’m in a rush and don’t have time for my Dipbrow. It comes in three shades, dark brown, hazel and black brown.

Get it at Target for $3.49!

Face

Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse Foundation in 130 – Cocoa

I’m going to be totally honest here, just the word “foundation” makes me groan. As most black girls will tell you, finding a foundation shade that matches their skin tone completely, provides medium to full coverage, and it rather inexpensive is a total pain.

I’ve gone through so many brands of foundation, or skipped some brands entirely because their darkest shade was nowhere close to mine. Luckily, Maybelline is all about that #blackgirlmagic and has the perfect shade for me–130 (Cocoa).

I typically don’t wear foundation unless it’s a special occasion, but apparently I’ve been doing a lot this year, because I had to buy some more of this foundation recently. It matches my skin tone so perfectly, I forget I have it on!

Cocoa is the darkest shade in this foundation, but I recommend Maybelline’s Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation, which has many darker shades for my fellow dark skinned sistas.

Grab this foundation at Target for $6.89!

NYX Mineral ”Set It & Don’t Fret It” Matte Finishing Powder in Medium/Dark

While I use a translucent powder to set my face before my setting spray, I’m fond of NYX’s Set It & Don’t Fret It for baking. It’s rather inexpensive and perfect for my skin tone!

Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser Primer

I can’t stop saying amazing things about this primer and really, just Maybelline in general. I haven’t tried any other primers, but this one has to be one of the best drugstore ones out there. There’s so much product in this tube and a little bit truly goes a long way.

My pores are gone with a couple swipes of this product, paving the way for a flawless makeup application.

Grab this primer for just $5.79 at Target!

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in 30 – Cafe

This concealer is heaven sent! I’ve used L.A. Girl, NYX, E.L.F. and other brands but I always come back to Maybelline’s.

I use this for my face and for over and underneath my eyebrows. There are darker shades than this one, but are quite hard to come by, unfortunately. Hopefully Maybelline will keep them in stock long enough for me to try them out!

Grab this concealer from Ulta for $6.99!

Lips

NYX Intense Butter Gloss in Blueberry Tart

If the name of this gloss sounds familiar, it’s because I mentioned in a previous post about the types of lipsticks perfect for brown skin this winter! What kind of blogger would I be if I wasn’t obsessed about the products I talked about?

I’ve recently repurchased this gloss and I’m so glad I did. Every time I wear it, I get compliments. NYX really knows what they’re doing with their glosses, y’all.

  1. I love the feeling when I finish a tube or compact of makeup! I used to buy expensive department store mascaras, but I’ve really been loving L’Oreal’s “Voluminous Million Lashes” that I snag at Target. I also love the Urban Decay “All Nighter” makeup setting spray – it makes my skin looks dewy and keeps my makeup on all day!

    1. Oh my gosh, I’m simply buzzing right now! The Swirl gave me that final push to start my blog and I’m over the moon you left a comment. I totally have to try that mascara. It seems like L’Oreal is undefeated in makeup right now. Thanks for coming by!

  2. I love the Nyx Intense Butter Glosses! Right now my faves are Spice Cake, Funnel Delight, and Toasted Marshmallow. I feel like Nyx does lip products better than any other drugstore brand.

    1. Their glosses are hands down some of the best glosses I’ve ever used! They’re not drying and shine perfectly every time I use them. I’ve never used the ones you’ve mentioned but I do want to grow my collection sometime soon. Thanks for stopping by! x
