I’m really honored to receive this award, especially since I’m super new to the blogging world! Big shout out to Conchita for nominating me. She saw something awesome in this little ol’ blog and I hope that other people continue to see what she saw too!

1. Why did you start blogging?

I started blogging because I saw that I always had to search really hard to find blogs owned by black women, or talked about black hair and beauty that were still active. I loved reading blogs from other people, but I was always craving posts about black beauty products or talking about the latest episode of Empire (when it was still good, anyway). So, I decided to start my own blog to hopefully connect with other black bloggers and bloggers from other races, as well as get my own content out there to hopefully please a girl who had the same thoughts as I did.

2. If you had to describe your blog in or with 5 words, what would they be?

An active black girl blogging

3. What are you Top 3 blogging goals as of now?

My first goal is to reach 1,000 followers on any social media platform. I’m getting super close with IG (I’m at almost 900 as of this post), but I’d like to increase my followers on other platforms as well. I’d also love to have my first brand collaboration or sponsored post some time soon. Finally, I really want to get up my daily page views. You can find more of my 2018 blogging goals here!

4. In your opinion, what type of person is the best type of people? (ie. caring person)

The best type of person is an honest person. I find that beating around the bush or not saying what you really want to say can cause more trouble than it should in the long run. I respect and love people that are honest and say what’s on their mind!

5. Have you traveled? Which place was the most memorable for you?

I have traveled a bit, only in the United States. I’d have to say that Minneapolis, Minnesota was probably the most memorable for me because it was the furthest I’ve ever been, the longest flight I ever took and I went to Mall of America!

6. If your blog has some sort of “aesthetic” or color scheme, explain why it is that way.

I do have a bit of an aesthetic, I guess. My front page logo is pinkish and black, while my other logos are black and white and my Instagram is black, white and gold. I don’t know why it’s this way, honestly, haha. I love the color yellow and all of its hues. It’s possible my aesthetic will change as I evolve as a blogger.

7. When do you like writing your blog posts?

I am a TOTAL night owl. My peak times are from 9 p.m. until about 2 a.m. I like working late because I find that is the time I have the least amount of distractions. There are too many things during the day (looking at you Starbucks and Netflix) that can take my attention away from writing.

8. What are your thoughts looking back to when you first started your blog?

Well, I haven’t even been blogging for a month yet, so my thoughts when I started my blog are still the same now, mostly. I didn’t think I’d be making friends and connections so quickly though!

9. How long has it been with your blog?

It’s been officially nine days, haha.

10. What keeps you writing?

I’ve always loved to write, so my love for that keeps me writing. I like owning a blog because I can take a break from the typical news articles I write while I’m on staff at my school’s newspaper.

11. What are the Top 3 ways you want to improve yourself?

I want to be a more emotionally open person! I also want to start doing mediation every day, just to have something calming to do for my mental health. Finally, I would like to do something for self love (taking a bubble bath, light candles, etc.) every day or every other day. 2018 is all about self love baby.
